Moving On Estate Agents

Moving On Estate Agents recently asked us to *pimp* their website.  They had built their website in house and whilst there was nothing offensive about the website, there were some technical and usability issues. 

Before:

We assessed the website and came up with the following solution

1. The home page now includes text, and keywords within the text. This is important for search engines.  The previous home page has almost no text at all unless included in an image (Google can’t read images)
2. We’ve taken the corporate colors of purple, grey and orange and used them to create a balanced design.
3. The design now includes quick links on the left to the two single most important pages, the properties for sale and the properties for rent.
4. We have used color in the main banner to promote a happy and fresh design.
5. Made the whole website bigger to utilize the larger monitors that are currently standard and to allow  more space to include content.
6. We have included a section for testimonials on each page instead of hiding these away on a single page.
7. We have standardized the font and layouts on all pages to aid navigation and usability
8. We added a CMS so that Moving On can manage the website going forwards (important for an estate agent!)
9. And then the boring stuff, XHTML, compliancy, SEO, accessible, semantic HTML,,,etc etc
