The Big Tribute Festival, Wales

I was really excited to receive the brief to build the website for The Big Tribute Festival, Wales. It was around 10:30 pm and I’d quickly read the document and for a very small moment believed that I would be working with acts like Lady Ga Ga and Take That…and then I re-read and noticed the word “tribute” in the title!  No matter, I was still very excited. The brief was fun and I could see plenty of opportunity for our design team to flex their creative muscles.

We were selected by the organizers, Steve and Laura, based upon our portfolio of work which showed that we were capable of creating unique projects, not just stamp our flavor on something or re-create the same solution over and over.  Steve found us via a Google search which is quite unusual since most of our work comes from recommendations and word-of-mouth. Our enthusiasm shone through and it’s great to know that we’ve a hub of activity in a corner of Wales revolving around our website creation.

Our brief was to create striking and fun design which would attract students and families to the 2 day/night festival packed with exciting tribute act. We’ve integrated the design with a CMS, social media, blog and a ticket booking system which provides the organizers with a wealth of control for their first year which can be built upon for subsequent years.

This project was great fun.  We developed the branding and logo and had fun debates about whether or not we could use a sheep mascot.
