Building Jamie Oliver’s At Home eCommerce website

Working with Jamie Oliver’s team on the Jamie at Home eCommerce website has been incredibly exciting for the b web team.  I am a huge fan of Jamie’s and have been watching him since my uni days way back when he was “The Naked Chef”.  Although we did not get to meet the man himself, we have been able to flex our development muscles for this eCommerce solution which includes lots of interesting functionality. Our shop section of the website sits inside another website (www.jamieathome.co.uk) using a different platform for which we’ve been required to integrate seamlessly.

Here’s the home page, in it’s full glory…

Originally the JAH team had a different layout in mind, but despite the fact that the shop section of the website is not the home page we really wanted to create a shop home page with a proper WOW factor.  We suggested the large hero image that spans the whole web page the layout below that allows for easy navigation to highlighted products as well as the main shop categories.

Category Page

You can see how the navigation sits on the left hand side on the category (above) and product listings (below) page showing a dynamic menu to let visitors see the sections within the category, as well as quick links and the main navigation across the top menu.  This makes the website really easy to use and visitors can easily drill down to the content they were looking for.

Product Listing Page

You’ll notice the inclusion of the add to basket on the product listing page to make shopping super easy.

Feature Rich Product Page

We wanted the product page to include plenty of functionality whilst keeping it clear and uncluttered.  The top section focuses on the product images and descriptions. With the option to select multiple images, zoom in, share using social media and to read in depth product descriptions.  For some of the products Jamie can pop in a “Jamie says” comment for a special personal touch. We’ve kept the delivery information as easy to find as possible, hiding this important information can really hurt sales online.

The bottom section of the page includes area’s to show case other products in the range as well as a dynamic recently viewed product list.

Jamie’s At Home team have been a real pleasure to work with and we’ve providing training to allow them to change all of the banners, background images and marketing message as the business demands.
