Open Cart How ToOpenCart is a popular e-commerce website CMS. Built in PHP, it is an open source solution, suited to smaller businesses. There are many features and functions of OpenCart that you may not already know about, so here we show you how to set up discount codes.

  • Go to Sales -> Coupons


  • Click “Insert” or “Edit” to change an existing one
    • Enter the following details:
      • Coupon name (this is shown once they’ve successfully entered a coupon code)
      • Code (this can be a combination of numbers and letters)
      • Type (do you want to offer a percentage discount such as 10% off or a fixed amount such as £5 off)
      • Discount (the amount in percent or fixed amount you want to give)
      • Total amount (the amount they have to spend before the coupon is applied)
      • Customer login (whether the customer has to be logged in before they can use the coupon)
      • Free Shipping (if the coupon provides free shipping, just set this to yes)
      • Products (Select specific products the coupon applies to)
      • Category (Select specific categories the coupon applies to)
      • Date start/end (how long the coupon is valid for)
      • Uses per coupon (the number of times a coupon can be used by any customer)
      • Uses per customer (the number of times a coupon can be used by a particular customer)
      • Status (enable/disable the coupon)


  • Then simply save the form and your discount code will be instantly created.
