Box Hill Swim Team is swimming club based in Guildford, Surrey and run by former International and Olympic Coach Conrad Cawley. Unlike many swimming clubs Box Hill does not have a home but uses several school pools in and around Guildford. For this reason it is vital that their website is always up to date with the latest times, venues and changes to the schedule so that members are kept informed.
The previous Box Hill Swim Team website was built on a platform that became obsolete and it was becoming more and more difficult for Conrad to edit it. There were also several plugins being used that were costly and constantly changing, and were a challenge to maintain. However, Conrad wanted to keep the website basically the same as the previous one as both he and his members were happy with how that looked. He did however want the new site to work better on mobile, which most of his members were now using to access the site, plus there was to be a new members-only section with a login and membership database.

We agreed to rebuild the site to look almost exactly the same as the previous site but in a completely new WordPress environment which would ensure future compatibility and longevity. We managed to incorporate a few improvements and tweaks along the way of course, especially to the mobile layout and operation, but overall the site was exactly what the client and his members wanted and were familiar with.
We built and seamlessly integrated a new members-only section with a username/password login so that sensitive information was hidden from public view. This contains sections for the latest club news, swim team results and member links to equipment suppliers etc.
After his WordPress training, Conrad agreed that the site is now much easier to manage and edit than the old one, and within a week of launching, all of the club members had signed up and logged into the new membership section!
