The Brief.
Carbeile Junior School is situated in the small town of Torpoint in Cornwall. The headteacher, Pete Hamlyn, was looking for a company to partner with who could create an extensive website to provide school parents all of the information necessary to keep them up to date with the school staff, activities, results and curriculum. It would also need to attract parents of prospective pupils and provide all the information that they would need to make the decision for their child to attend.
The previous website had a lot of information on it but was difficult to navigate and to edit. The new site would need an extensive menu, with multiple submenus and a logical visitor journey through the mass of information available – there are nearly 90 pages! It was also vital that staff could easily edit pages in order to keep everything up to date.
The Solution.

We had several meetings with Pete to determine the best approach to the design and back-end of the project. We showed him the editing capability of WordPress and we all agreed that was the way to go.
The branding was already in place, but we were allowed to tweak the colours to produce an attractive and approachable look and feel. The result of the design process is a clean and clear website with large, impactful images and with consistent branding and tone of voice throughout. We designed an extensive megamenu which enables one-click access to every page on the site!
The client was very helpful in arranging photography and providing us with staff and around-the-school images to make everything look great. The site has been very well received by all of the staff and parents, and other schools in the area have now approached b:web to produce similar sites for them!
“As a large junior school in South East Cornwall, we were looking for a company to build us a bespoke website that was professional but which still appealed to parents and children alike. We have now been working with b:web for about 6 years (one brand new build and then a rebrand build) and we have had numerous comments about the brilliance of our website from parents and from Ofsted. b:web are always on the end of an email for support and advice and I genuinely think that you couldn’t get a better school website than the one b:web built for us. Couldn’t recommend more highly!”
