Cobblers & Coffee are Plymouth’s (and possibly the World’s) only combined Key Cutting, Cobbling and Coffee Shop! The incredibly popular new venue in the heart of Plymouth was due to open a couple of months after they contacted us to design and build the website, so we had a good amount of time to get everything done and launched in time for the grand opening.
Their branding was an interesting light and dark grey combination which could have proved a challenge to work with as the client obviously wanted the site to be welcoming and approachable for customers. Their strong and distinctive sense of style also needed to be incorporated into the design.
The site itself needed to be clean, modern, and incorporate live feeds for Google Maps, Google Reviews and Instagram – on which the clients were very active.

Given the colour constraints, we decided to use mainly brown-toned images which would blend and complement the basic colouring rather than overpower it. Fortunately, with subjects being coffee and shoes, we were able to source many images that worked well with that theme! We combined full images with cut-outs to add visual interest and create a really eye-catching design for the homepage that we could carry through to all of the others.
The site works just as beautifully on mobile and tablets as it does on laptops and wide desktop monitors. It incorporates large image prompts that link to the three key product areas and drive revenue. The inner pages provide drinks and snack menus as well as cobbling and key-cutting price lists which the client updates regularly using the simple WordPress CMS.
It has proven a real asset to the business as it is driving traffic to the café and ensuring that Cobblers & Coffee is thriving in a time when other new small businesses are struggling. If you’re in town, do pop in and have a coffee with the guys at 117 Beaumont Street, Plymouth.
