Small Business Website

Great British Woodshop.

seo, Web Design, Web Development

The Brief.

“The Great British Woodshop” was a TV series that celebrated traditional furniture making, taking inspiration from the old world and transforming those pieces of furniture into ones that are ideally suited for today’s living. Nowadays, the frontman of the show, craftsman David Free, still operates under the brand name teaching students of all abilities in his large, fully tooled workshop in West Byfleet, Surrey.

David was keen to completely redesign his website so that new courses could be easily added and new customers could be attracted. The site needed to highlight feature courses include Woodwork, DIY, Special Project Courses, Spray Painting, Upcycling and Upholstery as well as promote school holiday classes for 7-16 year olds.

The Solution.

seo, Web Design, Web Development
We revamped the branding, swapping the old yellow in the logo for a more upmarket gold. We then designed the website around gold and greys for a contemporary style that, in combination with the client’s own images and those that we sourced for them, would attract customers to attend new courses.

We created separate pages and sections for different types of course, then integrated them with Eventbrite for booking.

The resultant site is attractive and very easy to navigate. It has proven popular with customers with bookings increasing significantly since the launch of the site. David is very happy with how easy it is to edit using WordPress as he is now able to add new course details and manage customer enquiries himself.

What the client says....

“I first started working with b:web when I worked as PA to the Chief Executive at the Royal School of Needlework. We were looking for a redesign on our website and had just been quoted an astronomical price for a website which as a charity was not viable. b:web offered us a series of costed options at a reasonable price, with access to website designers so we could choose a designer to suit our style and delivered a website that looked good and was easy to update. They also integrated an eCommerce option to the site so that we could start selling online.

When my client “The Great British Woodshop” needed SEO done, I reached out to Zoe and the team for their expertise. They were able to produce a new Wordpress site which is much easier to update and optimise and also worked with us to understand the business, produce a great looking website and tailor our SEO to help us with those google rankings. Thank you Zoe and team!”
