Grout was a start-up business with a brand new showroom in East Sheen, London, offering inspirational bathroom and kitchen tiles of all shapes and sizes for domestic use. However, the key people within Grout have over 30 years of experience in their industry so they know their customers really well and have developed the Grout range specifically to suit them.
The original operation was simply a tile distribution centre and warehouse but our brief was to create a high-end online shopping experience, a world away from this, with a vision of a boutique store in London that would use the website as part of the storefront via iPad displays.
Grout worked with a local designer for the front end designs and our brief was to translate these into a fully-functional Magento eCommerce website with a mobile-first approach.

We initially met at our Surrey web design studio to discuss the project goals and to barnstorm functionality for the eCommerce website.
We used a combination of Magento and WordPress to provide a fully responsive and easy to use website. WordPress is used as the primary CMS for the brochure pages as it offers more flexibility and is easier for the client to update.
The Magento store was developed as a bespoke solution with additional functionality in the form of a custom tile calculator. The website also features a custom sample basket which was created specifically for Grout so that customers can order samples before they buy.
The website has been developed to be inviting and engaging to customers but also to have maximum effectiveness in terms of SEO.
