Lyme Bay Fishermen’s Community Interest Company is a group of fishermen from across the four ports of Axmouth, Beer, Lyme Regis and West Bay. It was set up as a not-for-profit to help support their coastal communities and the fishing industry across Lyme Bay.
Mandy at Lyme Bay was keen to have a simple site that was attractive, easy to edit, and incorporated eye-catching imagery both stock and from the local area.
The site needed to have four separate listing elements: seafood restaurants, seafood shops, LBFCIC news, and a directory of the member fishermen. Each listing needed to have contact details and an image to drive traffic, increase awareness, and promote purchasing of the seafood catches.

The client was very keen to have an opening full-screen video as the introductory page for the site. This is not ideal for SEO or the user experience, but we made it work for them, sourcing and editing the video for the site. Once through that, the homepage proper then acts as a signpost to each of the four main sections of the website, with the simple blue and white colour scheme reflecting the nautical theme and local colours.
The restaurant and shop sections have application forms to drive new listings with the aim that the site will become a central hub for local information and a portal to enjoy the Lyme Bay seafood. The client is very active on the site adding news items regularly, and each of the fishermen has provided their own listing with details of their harbour and boat so that visitors get to know them.
