The Brief.

Sarah is an artist, an illustrator, and a close friend of b:web, being situated just a short distance from our Plymouth offices. She produces unashamedly cheerful art, full of bright colours, patterns and bold illustrative lines. When Sarah approached us she didn’t have an existing website, but she did have this amazing logo and colour scheme which gave us loads to work with.

During the discovery meeting we ascertained that the site had two primary objectives – to be a showcase of Sarah’s work in order to attract galleries, and a storefront where private buyers and collectors could browse and purchase individual works. The site needed to reflect the colours that Sarah used in her logo and throughout her artwork, so bright and bold was the order of the day!

The Solution.

e-Commerce, email marketing, Web Design, Web Development
The website we designed for Sarah definitely fulfils the brief, with large blocks of colour and lots of images. Each category of artwork is colour-coded using colours from the logo, and the simple menu makes it easy to navigate through all of the available categories and products.

The clean, white backgrounds of the store pages contrast well with the background colours to really make the artworks stand out. The curvy, uneven sections give a great hand-drawn feel, echoing Sarah’s work, and subtle background graphics give the whole thing a feeling of depth.

The site itself is built in WordPress and the store uses WooCommerce for the product listings and checkout.

What the client says....

“I gave my newly acquired ‘Brand Pack’ (colours, logos, fonts, photos etc) to b:web in the hope that they would be able to design a website that reflected my art, my personality and my love of colour. They didn’t disappoint !!

Zoe, Naomi and Andrew all worked on different elements, yet they all had the same vision and totally understood me. Zoe kept me on track with regular updates, ideas and planning meetings. Naomi was really patient when I kept changing my mind about things and is a wizard with all that techy stuff and Andrew’s creativity meant I could suggest a vague artistic idea and he would execute it exactly how I wanted it (even though I didn’t really know myself what that would be).

I couldn’t recommend b:web enough as I now have a beautiful website which is super easy to navigate (and I know I can contact Naomi if ever I get stuck). Thank you b:web!”
